BITTORRENT DOWNLOADS : Using a Bittorrent client, how can i select multiple files to downloadinstead of manaully selecting each file one at a time?Easiest way is to save the torrent files to your hard drive, then justdouble click to start it. This makes it easier to resume downloads alsoinstead of having to go back to the site. But that still does not solve the problem of multiple downloads. I'd like toqueue up downloads so that when i go out in the morning and come back afterwork they will be downloaded rather than just one," But that still does not solve the problem of multiple downloads. I'd liketo queue up downloads so that when i go out in the morning and come backafter work they will be downloaded rather than just one, "Choose *save target as...* and save the BitTorrent files in a folder. Youcan disconnect and re-start your BitTorrent downloads as many times as youlike, and you can also download multiple files at the same time bydouble-clicking these BitTorrent files one after the other. It hogs thememory quite a bit when it is verifying the downloaded parts, so it's bestto wait for that to finish before opening the next one. BITTORRENT DOWNLOADS : I've shut down distribution of the competition files throughBitTorrent. Thanks to everyone who participated, and especially tothose who served as seeds for the files. There were around 200BitTorrent downloads for WinInterpreters.exe and Comp03.zip, whichmatched the number of downloads directly from. There were 265 downloads of IFComp2003.exe,besting the number from the IF Archive by some 30%.From: ()Subject: Re: [IFComp03] BitTorrent results Newsgroups: Date: 2003-10-03 00:22:23 PST On Vendredi 3 Octobre 2003 01:04, Stephen Granade wrote:Just for interest, ifarchive.biff.org.uk has served (approximately) 57copies of WinInterpreters.exe and 3 copies of each of Comp03.zip andIFComp2003.exe to date by HTTP. I would guess that most people accessedthe archive directly or used mirror.ifarchive.org.I left a BitTorrent seed for Comp03.zip running for about 6 hours onWednesday and it delivered about 6MB during that time (i.e. less thanhalf the file size). Maybe most people had already grabbed it by then. :-)Maybe, but not necessarily. I get the basic concept of BitTorrent, butI'm not certain about the exact details of the procedure so I could bewrong here. But I think that if there are multiple seeds, the file canbe downloaded from multiple people at once, getting a piece from thisperson and a different piece from that person. It's possibile that youonly had to upload 6MB of the file because it was getting the other, hmm,8MB would it be? from one or more other people. *shrug* As for mepersonally, I downloaded the Comp03.zip file with BitTorrent on TuesdayI think and got it pretty fast, no blantantly obvious difference betweenthat and a URL or FTP download. I left the window open for roughly 4 hoursthat night and the next night to help seed if needed. I saw it uploadingonly once during that time and I don't remember how much it sent, but atleast I was able to provide a little bit of help. BITTORRENT DOWNLOADS : I was one of the initial seeds, and I left it open from Sunday nightuntil Tuesday. During that time I served 1.2 GB. I was rather shocked. I shut it offwhen I came home from work and found it spewing "can't connect totracker" errors. (The tracker is the server that coordinatesdownloading among the different seeds.) I think my ISP got mad at thetraffic and blocked the address.I saw the tracker go down at least one time, so maybe it was notyour ISP after all. I served 22 MB personnally, but I think Iarrived after most people had already downloaded.I almost never download from the if-archive anymore since they startedseverely limiting their bandwidth. I'm on a cable modem, and they areno faster than a dial-up. I usually download from . It'snot the fastest around, but it's adequate. I averaged around 50 K persecond when I got the zip file. On a good day with a lightly-loadedserver, I can hit 220K per second. BITTORRENT DOWNLOADS : does anybody know if there are any bittorrent downloads for any new years runshow except 1-3...shnapster doesn't seem to be the working for me and i thinkits because i'm behind firewall...i would appreciate any help you guys can giveme...Hey, I was just wondering what the average time to dl a show using BT is?It's going amazingly slow for me and I'm trying to figure out if my cablemodem is fucked up.well it depends on the show and how many other people have their bt programsrunningHow many kb/s are you getting? Is your connection firewalled? The faq on the bittorrent website says which port to open up if you are.I downloaded my first show via BT last night, and it took a total of about12 hours (for the Greensboro show). Right now I am getting Philly, and it'smoving along at 70-80 KB/s, so that would take about 4 hours total. Quite adifference, but I'm happy either way. BITTORRENT DOWNLOADS : It looks like my website just died, and it'll be down until tomorrow at the earliest. Sorry folks...-- Yes, the e-mail address in the header is valid, however it goes toa public folder that other people can read. If you want to e-mailme privately use my first name @ my last name . org.Just about to write to you about what I think are some anomalies with the mpgfiles - but needed to see your site to confirm my concerns.Anyway - if this is all wrong - wdnt be the 1st time...nor the last...File 1 - 37 mins 33 secsFile 2 - 36:02File 3 - 30:02File 4 - 29:30File 5 - 29:11File 6 - 26:56File 7 - 26:25Those definately don't look right. Make sure the byte count of what you downloaded matches what I posted on the site when it's back up tomorrow. If necessary I can post md5sums of all the files as well. The file sizes appear to be all wrong (again - I'm going from memory here)ranging from 191,368 KB to 135,906 KBOn Mon, 23 Jun 2003 16:41:22 -0400, Bruce Pennypacker may have said:
