BITTORRENT 3.2 1 : There is an obvious link to the introduction page which is very clearA very simple diagram on how it works. Again very little to read.Yes Mandrake could have communicated in big red letters that BT is p2psoftware, for the likes of people that cant click on a couple of links tofind out about this strange new technology."If you need an explanation on how to use and install BitTorrent pleaseread these stories: and Setup BitTorrent on yourMandrake Linux and the associated comments""How does BitTorrent work ? It is a Peer to Peer system. While you aredownloading you are also allowing others to download from you."But if you feel so strongly that the letters weren't big enough and redenough simply dont install Mandrake and stop going on about it.Communicate it to them instead and make a +ve contribution. Thanks for that repost. Of course, the people who are having so muchtrouble will probably not bother reading this post either, as that wouldtake too much of their time, and be very difficult. BITTORRENT 3.2 1 : Well, you must be related to Bill, or something. To me, it was adequatelyexplained, and links were provided for more reading if desired. Nobody istrying to drive new users away, but people have got to realize that theycan't have their hand held all the way through life. There was nothinghard or secretive about how Mandrake deployed BitTorrent. It did requiremost users to do a little homework, which I didn't mind a bit. If thatbothers you, perhaps you should just give up, boot Windoze, and tradeviruses with Bill. Have a nice day.I just switched to Fedora Core. Along side Knoppix/Debian, and Gentoo, I am not deprived while waiting for proper mirrors.-----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World!-----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =-----BT uploads the torrent file you are currently downloading. Download rate is tied to upload rate. BT relies on a distributed p2p process to speed downloads, the more people downloading the faster, it starts out slow then ramps up. BT > All I get is tracker timeout and it aborts. WTF??? BITTORRENT 3.2 1 : Using bittorrent for the first time, installed Bittorrent 3.2.1Try to get GTA - Vice city over SuprnovaDownload is running now for more then a 2 day, only 19% finished !! downloadspeed between 0-1 kb/s, upload speed between 5-10 kb/s. How can i improvethe download speed ?RegardsTBzoftCheck back at the tracker website and see if there are any seeds for the torrent. Seeds are computers with the whole file. If there're no seeds, you can't complete. What kind of connection do you have? If you've been running the torrent for 2 days, I'm assuming it's an always-on broadband connection. If you're behind a firewall or router (and if you're not, you should be), you'll have to open up some holes in the firewall on ports 6881-6889 for incoming traffic. Since you're uploading at 5-10 kb/s, I don't think this is the case. (A closed firewall would result in 0 uploads, because no one would be able to connect to your computer to request an upload.) BITTORRENT 3.2 1 : One other thing: the Experimental Bittorrent client and another program called TorrentSpy will both tell you how many seeds are available without having to go back to the tracker.what could an ISP be doing to limit speeds on bittorent.. could theythrottle certain ports, or limit various TCP transfers?would there be ways to get around it?btopenworld used to in the UK but stopped after widespread complaint.--Garethquote of the day'nostradamus? -sounds like a rock group to me!'see my ebay auctions aPoke a hole in your firewall for at least port 6881. I was having the sameproblem - I had very slow download speed (0-3kB/s) and upload speed between8-10kB/s. I killed the XP firewall and all of a sudden my speed picked up,the number of peers I could see increased and the total distributed copiesjumped 10 fold. So I installed a real firewall and left a few ports open andit all works great now.Hmm. I'd think if there was a firewall on the system, you'd not be able to get any uploads going at all. Interesting... BITTORRENT 3.2 1 : I just recently discovered this great prog called bittorrent. It's a new approach to p2p and ftp. Anyway, I'm looking for some good torrent sites with anime links. Anyone can help me?-- "If you aren't remembered, then you never existed" Arisu - Serial Experiments LainI swear, can't people at least TRY to use a search engine before askingquestions like this nowadays? Why do you think that link in my original post is pointing to a bittorrent site? Should I demonstrate my incredible search capabilities to the holy Joshua before entering the anime kingdom? ;-)Anyway, of course I used a search engine, but all I've found until now are mediocre sites. I do like animesuki, animetorrents and scarywater however. Any other recommended sites?personally I think that animesuki is one of the best for BT anime - I use it loadsAh... If you had phrased your first post this way, Joshua probablywouldn't have complained as much. There have been quite a few new folksposting "where can I find...?" posts lately, and everybody's getting abit tired of pointing them at sites they could have found with Google ina five-minute search. You just got the fallout from that, that's all.
