And how would I go about checking to see (aside from the obvious "fire up the program - if it pukes, the function isn't there") if an arbitrarily selected function is available in a particular Python implementation?In the installation directory is a subdirectly Lib (at least for *nix,windows versions, don't know if mac is same). In that directory is afile called os.py which, when imported, becomes the os module. Inthat file are a number of definitions. Your BT program, by including BITTORRENT 3.2 : I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd give it a try and I found out it worked quite well.This is the parts you need installed:Python 2.2.2Ncurses 5.3 (I'm not sure you'll need this, give it a try without it)For the GUI parts bittorrent uses wxpython or a python module called "curses" wich I don't think is ported to os/2 (at least I couldn't getit to work), but the "headless" version isn't using any of these so itwill work. It didn't want to work in vt220 mode so I also had to change the terminal thingie.So after downloading a torrent file I opened a command line window andtyped in"set term=ansi""python btdownloadheadless.py whateveryoulike.torrent"(without qoutation) and it downloaded the file without any problems.The downside is that you'll have to be in the bittorrent directory when you start the script and it will also download the file to the same directory. But maybe someone with a bit more python knowledge could check it out and maybe fix that. When you click a .torrent file, thisprogram will allocate the required disk space in the directory you choose(It will pop up a windows telling you to select the dirctory). The fileswill be saved in a folder named after the file. So ph2003-07-08.shn will besaved in a subfolder of the folder you chose called ph2003-07-08.shnf .After allocating the space, it will connect to others that are alsodownloading the program. At the same time, while you are downloading, peoplewill connect to you and get what you have so far from you (indicated by yourUpload Speed indicator). Once you are finished downloading the files, thefiles will be ready to play (as long as you have the shn or flac plugin foryour media player/winamp.). However, please dont close the window rightaway. Leaving it open for a while afterwards allows others to continue toget the file from you.There are other (better) .torrent handlers like shareaza and direct connect,but this is a good start.Hope this helps
