BITTORENT : My computer started crashing and a diagnostic indicates that something'saffected one of my drivers. Given that bittorent was the last thingI've downloaded outside of the AVIs, I was wondering if it might bethat. I'm not one of those big download people and my virus-scan pickedup nothing, so I'm wondering if might be Bittorent (I have the experimentalversion).Not likely, though it wouldn't hurt to remove the experimental version andinstall the safe version...still, BT really shouldn't be affecting *drivers*at all, it's just a download/upload manager.Safe version? Just because it is called 'Shadow's Experimental' does not necessarily mean it isa test tube short of a full rack and tends to explode at any time. And for the so-called safeversion, you will need to manually edit that html link (or remove it altogether) to stop it frompopping up and spamming you every few minutes.Re: what Michael Lo is complaining about. It could well be caused by a virus, a heated cpu,mobo, dll conflicts etc much more than bittorrent. The torrent is trackedon digitalpanic.org and shows 7/30 and 7/31 aren't being seeded. Can't tellhow old 7/31 is, but 7/30 is a month old. After a few days to a week you canfigure a seed will leave the torrent to folks that have d/l to keep open.After a month it's hard to keep anything open unless it's rare and valuable.7/31 looks to be around 3 weeks old, but couldn't find it on STg or digitalpanic, just the tracker.If your not d/l, and there is no seed and your client doesn't show anycompleted copies, or an increasing number in the completed copies field,then it's just you and your peers. You don't always show everyone you areconnected to, not even the seed at times, but the numbers will indicate ifthere is a d/l in progress. Pay attention to what the client is telling youon the front as well as the advanced functions that show connections.You really need to write and ask some of this in the threads where you findthe BT because sometimes a torrent is suspended if it's corrupt, the seedloses connection, or worse, etc. etc. You can find out what's going on andsometimes ask folks to reopen. Doesn't always happen though.
